The Brief

• As the fall from the street level to the residence level was over 1 meter Green Fox Metals had to insure the aluminium screening was balustrade rated.

• Due to teenagers graffitiing the area during school holidays Green Fox Metals had to insure the material used for the privacy screens and external gates incorporated anti graffiti properties.

• The client wanted visual breaks in the 33 meter long fence.

• The boundary fence between the clients and neighbouring property was to be replaced and restored to original functionality on both sides.

• Garage door was to be replaced and privacy screening from fence was to seamlessly meld with garage screening.

• Create custom doors for tank room access to match surrounding screening.

• Security gates had to be secure and user friendly.

• A unique and interesting finish was to be applied to the internal side security gate.

• The end design had to meet the requirements of Mosman Council, look good and be structurally sound.

• The client who is an engineer wanted to be involved in the engineering decisions of the project.

Our Response

• To secure the aluminium privacy screen Green Fox Metals core hole drilled sandstone, mechanically braced posts to the concrete slab running adjacent to the property and in areas of grass and dirt installed a dead weight, to help explain this concept to the client, Green Fox Metals provided 3D renders of the concept.

• To combat graffiti, Green Fox Metals coated the external fence with an anti graffiti finish, engineered by Dulux to easily clean graffiti. The client has also tested this by spray painting some off cut pieces. The graffiti wiped off with some water and a sponge.

• To apply visual breaks to the 33 meter long fence Green Fox Metals installed thicker posts in a black anodised finish every 4.8 meters.

• The neighbour used their side of the fence as storage for ladders, Green Fox Metals engineered a custom bracket made from Knotwood aluminium to match the new fence.

• The garage door was replaced and coated with an anti graffiti coating, the screening of the garage interior wall facing the yard was perfectly aligned with the exterior fence to create harmony between the two elements.

• Custom engineered doors were created for the tank room out of Knotwood aluminium to match the interior screening.

• To enhance the security functionality of the security gates Green Fox Metals installed D and D technologies, self closing hinges that ensure that gates close after someone walks through them. To optimise the user experience Green Fox Metals utilised Borg keypad locks. These sophisticated locks have a keypad on the outside and are freely operable from inside the property, so keys are not needed.

• To apply a unique finish to the internal security gate Green Fox Metals created a floating timber centre within the gate. This was achieved by building a timber look aluminium frame with a 10mm piece of glass wet glazed set within the frame.

• A sheet of metal section in the same timber look finish was then secured to the glass to make it look as if the centre part of the gate was floating.

• In order to comply with the street side fence that was under a Development Application with Mosman Council, Green Fox Metals utilised 2 way posts that had been engineered for use in balustrading. These posts came with engineering certificates to support the final certifying certificate.
